Washington Head Coach Accepts Blame for Keeping Daniels in Contest Before Serious Injury

The Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has admitted he shares a portion of the fault for a major ailment to the team’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Particulars of the Injury and Situation

Daniels, who enjoyed one of the greatest rookie campaigns of all time the previous year, suffered a dislocated left elbow in Sunday’s defeat to the Seattle Seahawks. Although the quarterback throws with his dominant arm, the issue has left his campaign uncertain. The condition was serious enough that the TV coverage did not show replays and several athletes looked away as he was treated by team doctors.

Criticism and Leader’s Response

Quinn faced criticism as numerous believed Daniels should not have been on the field in the first place. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter with the Commanders behind 38-7, making a recovery improbable. It is common in such situations for clubs to insert their backup quarterback to avoid injuries to their starter.

“I get that. I’ve been reflecting about it nonstop, too, and, man, I missed it,” Quinn remarked of his choice to keep Daniels in the match. “This is 100% my fault.”

Aftermath and Team Outlook

Marcus Mariota will be the team’s primary QB from now on, but he will lead a team in turmoil. After reaching the conference title game the prior year thanks to the rookie’s brilliance, the team have struggled this season. They also lost defensive back Lattimore (ACL tear) and wide receiver McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on Sunday, and have a host of other starters on the injury list. The Commanders are 3-6 on the season, and it would take a huge turnaround for the team to make the playoffs.
